In The Cloud - Original score for Sony pictures Crackle
Due for release on February 8th 2018 'In The Cloud' is a new feature film for Sony Pictures Crackle streaming service.
In The Cloud OST:
dBs Productions have overseen the production of the film score for 'In The Cloud’, supporting composers John Matthias and Jay Auborn (Race to Zero) to create a unique sound-world befitting the film's colour charged energy, dark unexpected twists and multi-layered VR sequences.
Directed by Robert Scott Wildes (Poor boy) and written by Vanya Asher (Heroes) 'In The Cloud' is a high-octane, sci-fi thriller set in London. The film explores the consequences of advanced VR and AR systems, centering on two estranged tech geniuses who create a way to explore memories as VR worlds.
dBs Productions provided sound engineers, assistant producers, studio facilities and music editors for the score's production. Recording sessions took place in-house at our facility in Bristol and on location in Sofia, Bulgaria working with the Vitosha Philharmonic. The dBs Pro team traveled to Sofia with the composers and worked alongside engineer Plamen Penchev and conductor Grigor Palikarov to capture Chamber Strings for the score.
Roles within the team at dBs Productions were fulfilled by learners across dBs Music Bristol courses. Leading the project were Toby Lewis and Giorgio Cortiana who acted as lead sound engineers and assistant producers. Their role required an understanding of traditional recording techniques but also an enthusiasm to try new and experimental techniques. Working as a team we built custom fx processes which gave the score a distinct colour and sound.
Along with recording the original score, three dance tracks were commissioned by the composers to soundtrack scenes set in nightclubs. In search of an authentic club sound for these scenes the composers asked for submissions from dBs Music students who work within dance music genres. Over 40 tracks were submitted and auditioned with the final 3 selected by the composers and films director. Two of these tracks were woven into the score to create dream like tapestries of sonic memories to support on screen action.
