Conceived in 2014 but artists Jane Grant and John Matthias, the artwork explores the sonic boundary between water and air. The artwork uses focused areas of phase cancellation to create an audible sonic surface. Listeners below this surface area hear a soundscape of underwater recordings and live microphone sources, above they hear only the sounds created in the air. The work allows participants to explore the depths of the ocean around them without having to dive in.

To create the artworks sonic effect dBs Pro worked with live sound engineer Simon Honywill who designed a custom system of five MLA arrayed loudspeaker elements, in a 20-metre ring around a diamond-shaped stage.  Both live and pre-recorded Multichannel soundscapes were played back via the system.
